Changes to the way we work at DRG

working at drg

We have always wanted DRG to be a great place to work, with a good work-life balance and to provide a supportive, challenging environment in which our people can develop their careers. Following over a year of working from home, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were keen to find out just what the DRG team now thought about our working practices. This information would help us frame our approach going forward once the Government’s “Work from Home” message is lifted.

How does our team want to work in the future?

To explore our team’s views on DRG’s working practices going forward, we conducted an employee survey. The results showed a clear preference for a flexible mix of working from home and being in the office.

These findings, plus the experience of running the business through the Covid-19 pandemic, have without doubt been the catalyst to bring forward some actions we had been considering for some time – in terms of working from home, more flexible hours and how the office itself is used. Over the next few months, we will be testing a number of changes to our working practices to provide a good working environment that works for our teams and helps them deliver a great service to our clients.

Hybrid mix of working from home and in the office

Whilst no week will be the same, we have asked our teams, in general, to spend no more than three days a week working from home – and to come into the office or be on site at a client at least twice a week. This should provide a good mix of collaboration, training, team building and time for individual work.

The DRG office – a more collaborative space

This more flexible way of working will change the way we use our office, with less need for personal work stations. We are currently looking at re-configuring the DRG office to make it a more collaborative space, suitable for individual work, meetings both in person and online, training, social events and team building.

“We want DRG to constantly evolve and to be at the forefront of how accountancy firms work. We work hard to look after the well-being of our staff and want to provide the optimum environment that is right for individuals, our teams and DRG overall," says Oliver Burton, Partner DRG Chartered Accountants.

We are always keen to hear from talented individuals – if you would like to find out more about working at DRG Chartered Accountants, please get in touch. We would be very pleased to hear from you.

"My company has used DRG for a number of years. They are proactive and efficient with all aspects of their work. They keep on top of our tax and accounting requirements, and help with the development of our business strategy.

We view DRG as a key supplier and crucially a partner and would highly recommend the firm – in particular to other fast growing businesses."

David Folkman, Director

"I’ve worked with a number of accountants over the years and have never found another company who offers the same level of care, support and professionalism. They’re always on hand to offer advice and guidance, above and beyond the service that I pay for. I would recommend them wholeheartedly."

Joe Hill, Director

"Very supportive and friendly company from day one."

Outdoor Academy

"I have always worked as an employee so when I decided to set up my own business, I did not know where to start. DRG took the time to explain how working as a sole trader would be more beneficial to me setting up a limited company (which I had always thought was a requirement for running a business). They gave me practical advice on the records I need to keep as well as general guidance on setting up my business and helped me claim a large tax refund after my first year of trading."

Sole Trader

"I have been a client through a number of different ventures with DRG since 2007. They have proved the benefits of a local firm with Big 4 experience in providing sound business and tax advice by being accessible, having in-depth knowledge of my business and able to form good working relationships at different levels with me and my staff. We also enjoy the benefit of their excellent accountancy and payroll services. I couldn’t recommend them more highly."

Paul Dunn-Sims, Halcyon Home Care

"I have been extremely impressed with the service level and attention to my business."
